Yeah, need to get the right one. Amazon makes it easy to know which to buy.
I’m many levels/layers into donkey Kong and the bosses still go down in, without exaggeration, five seconds.
If there’s a pattern or design to them, I can’t tell. Every fight has been me running up to them and punching them and the fight ends quicker than the cutscene introducing them.
Fun game.
Only the final boss puts up a fight.
The game is way too easy. Post-game stuff was alright.

I finally cracked into Bananza and I like it quite a bit. I’ve been focusing my skill points into punching and sonar. I haven’t allocated them to additional heart containers or apple juice yet because the game is pretty easy and I don’t really need those kinds of skill upgrades at this time. The game reminds me quite a bit of Bowser’s Fury so I’m glad they were able to build on that concept.

I didn’t upgrade health until way later and discovered environmental hazards start dropping multiple hearts. But had 20+ points to spend by then.
Still need to play Bowser’s Fury. But I wish there was an Odyssey 2. At this rate a new 3D Mario is years away. Mario Wonder 2, I assume, will drop sooner.

Boot up Mario Kart World and it’s the same as previous games with a menu and four race world cups. Notice in the bottom corner it says to hit start to free ride in the open world. The map shows track locations and character items. Do they take you to races to unlock something? No. There’s nothing there. There are ? Blocks that give stickers. P Switches are 20 second challenges for stickers. I’m collecting coins along the way thinking there’s a shop. No. It’s one giant pool of coins between all modes. See other racers in the world and think I should flash headlights to race them. No. None of that.
Feel like I’m missing something. I had it in my head that it was a Burnout Paradise, Forza Horizon, NFSU2 type open world racer. It’s regular Mario Kart plus an empty wasteland to drive around collecting stickers?
Yep. They should have just made Mario Kart 9.
I think we're into the thick of the covid nintendo games now, metroid was probably the high water mark
Bananza was good but not quite top tier, too easy
The rally mode in Mario Kart World is great but it seems like most people like the Sonic Crossworlds game more, haven't tried that one.
Given what Mario Kart 8 started as and what it finished as, I'm going to have a little patience and faith that there will be updates which will transform the game into something more worthy. Until then, it just sits in the cabinet.
Mario Kart World needs a big 2.0 update where the open world is more alive with things to do like Forza Horizon and the online races aren't bogged down by boring intermissions. The traditional tracks are quite good and I enjoy the parkour mechanics but there simply isn't enough of it because the lackluster open world drags the whole experience down.
The knockout cups are fun. It’d be novel to have a marathon race across all tracks.
There’s sort of a recognition how, with these long running Nintendo staples, I’m a slave to nostalgia. Nothing will top Mario Kart 64 or Double Dash for me. That’s okay.
Yep I'm still a sucker for
"Omg they remixed Rico Harbor" or "hnnggg that is the same stone carving as phendrana drifts"

I still feel they should make a Baby Park battle royale mode.

Started losing interest in Bananza around the frozen layer.
Yeah I thought Mario Kart World was disappointing too. I remember vividly the courses I played in MK8 from even a decade ago and other than Rainbow Road and the Donkey Kong themed course, I don’t remember any of the courses in World. I did triple star everything but meh, probably the weakest installation in the series.
