I heard this one as a teen and have never gotten over it (in a good way).

Zanarkand is great, I'm also a big fan of Terra's Theme

Final Fantasy 2's Overworld Theme

And this random banger written for just a 2 room cave for some reason

terra's theme was the definition of ff music for me for a long time. hard to match it.

14 music is also so good, so many amazing songs in there

soken music is unbeatable for me now, he is the final fantasy man. no shame to uematsu

11 is another with some amazing music but i spammed enough for now

it was also used in the dwarf cave and possibly elsewhere Bolo

you're right that it was incredible for how little it was used

FF9 was my favorite ost, I think that was the last one that was full uematsu and he pulled out all the stops, there are so many motifs that weave into each other, or are sometimes almost unrecognizable without paying attention

for example (these songs aren't particularly bangers but) cleyra settlement (happy town music), which is also cleyra's trunk (dungeon music) and eternal harvest (the cleyran traditional dance) and finally mourning the sky (anxious bad news music)

or the two varieties of rose of may

the melody of this song is so strong, it's like an instrumental that's missing lyrics, and then the guitar comes in

also love this one that builds up along the way

amazing sleepy town theme

battle on the big bridge vibes

FF9 suffers for still being a sample/soundfont game rater than fully orchestrated but it would be incredible with a live orchestra pass in a remake

I didn't know about that, that's just straight up a kingdom hearts song there

I love when they do that, cloud of darkness was incredible (also one of the best tracks of FF3, basically starts 30 seconds in)

again with this song it's just a matter of PS1 midi being the issue
