Great. My boss said Im off the Shorts team because my conversion of shorts to sales was high supposedly, and they have moved me from the Shorts team to the fucking marketing team.
Now I have to create ads Goddamnit Byebye fun job Im still editing but they think that my editing skills will benefit the marketing/ADS side, and thats supposedly why they are moving me from Shorts to Marketing. Also we are cutting back from two Youtube episodes per week to one, so that also might have something to do with it. Right now it was me and another duder as a team working on the Short edits, and now he's just sticking with that guy for the shorts, and Ive been moved to the Marketing team. I am not happy Why man, fucking why. 4 users liked this post: Gamegirl Nostalgia, who is ted danson?, D3RANG3D, filler

It took me a long ass time to realize but don't get emotionally invested in a job you don’t control.
Just do the bare minimum to collect the check. They'll probably appreciate it more too.

I get it, but I'm going to work with no pleasure at all right now. Where before I was very happy to go to work everyday. I know I can do these product photo's and shit, and make some shitty ads. But it's not what I applied for, what I worked hard to achieve, and where I want to be professionally. Video editing is my passion and making it my job and actually landing it made me so happy, and now I'm forced to do shit I have no interest in, zero interest in learning anything about it basically etc. I don't care about marketing, I don't care about selling products. I just want to make the funny video or just interesting content. Very simple scripted ads are not fun or interesting to make. If I get an ad I skip it, even if it's funny, I don't want to watch ads. So I sure as hell don't want to create ads. Im just so bummed out man this is really depressing me 4 users liked this post: Nintex, Gamegirl Nostalgia, who is ted danson?, filler

I get it. Ask for clarity and boundaries, then. If they can take a minute to tell you why the reassignment happened, what success looks like in your new role, and whether there’s a path or timeline back to where you were before. Keep the creative identity outside of work so you don't get depressed - if that means making a strict schedule to do your shit, then do it. A day job isn't always going to be creatively fulfilling, and that's totally fine. This might be a stretch because you were just fitted into the new role, but maybe just talk to them and tell them what you're worried about - something like, "I’m worried I'll be losing the work I do best and care about most. Can we define what "great" looks like in the new role, and explore a hybrid where I continue doing my short-form creative stuff?" or something. They'll probably appreciate seeing that self-motivated passion.
Don't get depressed dude, you're doing great and people recognize it. You have a lot of good shit ahead of you and you're hella talented. 4 users liked this post: MMaRsu, Gamegirl Nostalgia, who is ted danson?, Potato

Basically he said that they see a lot of potential in me, and that they think that I can mean more for the company than 'just making shorts only'. In the YT team there really isn't room to grow, as in for the full episodes. In the shorts team, yeah where is there to go as well? Not really anywhere in the long term, I agree with that and I understand that. He said that marketing is basically the moneymaker of the company, and way more important for them than shorts. So them wanting to move me up to marketing, to at least see if I'm good at it and a good fit, is just to see if I can mean more for the company. He also insinuated that a pay rise would be substantial when my contract is renewed in February. He also said that I should try this for at least the next three weeks, to see how it feels and how it goes. If by then I'd still rather go back to shorts, he said that it's still possible to go back there, but he thinks I won't want to. Because it's more pay, more responsibility, marketing / creative is still a combination and I'll still be editing. One day I might be the one thinking up marketing campaigns. And ofcourse there is way more room for growth in this department for me personally, than in the shorts dpt. I see that and I see that I can still learn a lot. It did give me a good feeling that they really see something in me, and that they want to help me grow and see what works best. It's just the way they went about it was kinda abrupt and kinda scared me. And I thought if I'm making the best shorts, why would you take me off the shorts? But I understand for the company shorts isn't as financially interesting as making interesting creative marketing campaigns. I just have no experience in that field. I just need to keep an open mind the next three weeks, I'm gonna do it full force and then decide what I think about it. I also asked if it was possible to work a bit hybrid, like 3/4 days of marketing dpt work, but one day where I can still work on shorts. He said that he's talking to the Marketing dpt head tomorrow, and he's gonna take that into consideration and ask that guy if that's a possibility. Good yes?

This new function man
![]() Fuck this shit bore bro's I don't want to spend my day in photoshop making up fucking barcodes for the products Goddamnit this is straight ass. If I wanted to work in a fucking marketing dpt I would have finished my communication & marketing education way back when. The whole reason I was so happy in this job was because I could do what I love to do, edit fucking video. Which is what I did finish an education for a few years ago, with the idea of changing up my career because working in customer service was slowly killing me And now they stick me in this shit position of where I have to do shit thats basically braindead work Goddamnit man 2 users liked this post: Gamegirl Nostalgia, filler
Welcome to the Netherlands. Human resources are deployed where necessary.
Find your meaning elsewhere. I'm dabbling in spirituality, hans zimmer music, world affairs, books etc. I've been working for a client for the past 13 years. They just had a merger it was big news. Anyway, I mostly just copy paste press releases, landing page texts and product descriptions for these guys. Why? I could sort of "guess" what things were in Poland, Japanese etc. because I had done it so long. Taking out errors or linking keywords without even knowing the language. Now I'm the prompt king, so why not put that to use to translate all this in more languages. Sure I wrote the proposal, negotiated the deal, managed the project, did the rebrand, was the architect of the new CMS and SEO strategy. I was also training someone to take this over but she left. So when it comes to putting in all the content in 40 languages and managing the people helping out I'm the only guy that can do it. And now I'm also the translation agency because half was missing. A $12 billion market leader has a content publishing arm for their most premium brand that is basically just me. This week I had two 2 wfh days. Praised from all directions by doing the bare minimum. To make this challenging I sit around for 6 hours, shit post, meme whatever. And then start 2 hours before the deadline. Otherwise it's too boring. Last time I challenged myself to release the most important press release of the year in 30 minutes during another meeting. Nailed it. Overall this is just North Korea with Windmills and Canals and more demanding women at this point.

Bear with it for now. Earn your stripes.
If it doesn't change for the better, have a conversation with your manager about more fulfilling work. If that doesn't work, start feeling out other opportunities. 1 user liked this post: Gamegirl Nostalgia

I was gonna say the opposite, don't give them any time at all to take advantage of you and for it to become the new normal, or for them to "notice your morale slipping" and start seeing the bad side of you
right now from what you've said, you've been a rockstar there, make sure they know that they're losing it like who hires someone to do a job, they do an awesome job, and then shortly afterward pisses them off enough to threaten to leave tell them it's your old job again or you're gone...assuming you have a safety net or other opportunities you feel you can fall back on 1 user liked this post: Gamegirl Nostalgia
