I think I’m the only one on The Bire who still plays these games but you never know! For those who don’t know, Musou is the Japanese title for the various Warriors games, developed and often published by Koei Tecmo. In recent years they’ve been focusing on licensed Musou games, like Fire Emblem Warriors, Hyrule Warriors, Persona 5 Strikers, etc.

I finished Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment for the Switch 2. It is a thoroughly mid-tier Musou title. Age of Calamity was pretty good! This one was rushed. The game has a lot of literally whos and the plot takes place in a brief point during Tears of the Kingdom. A lot of samey environments, very little sense of exploration, and I’m at the post game and I’m at the point where in order to get to any new missions I have to grind for more wildberries and random assorted shit. I grinded a lot for Age of Calamity to get everything and this game is just not worth it.

I think I’ll try to give Dynasty Warriors Origins on PS5 another try. This one left me cold.

I've delved into a few (Zelda, Fire Emblem, Samurai), but never been a huge fan. They're good for some mindless "bash lots of shit with few consequences" gaming, but they're just not something I go to frequently.

Aren’t they remaking DW3 or something? Even with many improvements to the formula over the years, and all the licenses and shit, somehow the series has never been as magical as it was then.

It just had a perfect caveman-brain appeal on all levels.

Nah, I'm here too.  Have fallen off a bit and have that musou backlog still.
