The Academy is about to learn what the developers of Highguard did regarding the power of His Dorito Holiness.

My feed has a video of a train stopping just before running over a suicidal person. The comments range from “incredible technique, driver-san!!” to “won’t anybody think about how the passengers schedule is in disarray?” to “once I saved a girl from jumping on the tracks. I didn’t get a reward…” to “so sad. They’ll never have the courage to try suiciding again.”

so trains don't normally stop when hitting someone, so as to keep to everyone's schedule?

But there are uhh train suicide otaku who choose specific stations where an express train passes to reduce chance of stopping. There are some infamous stations where they had to install long doors across the tracks because it was too frequent. 4 users liked this post: HaughtyFrank, Nintex, filler, HeavenIsAPlaceOnEarth

I wonder why trains are the number 1 method of unaliving.
It seems rather painful if you don’t instantly die does it have a high success rate or something?

Ease of access

Maybe an intuitive thought from a lifetime of waiting for trains.
I can’t speak to the thought process but there’s also leaving a possibility of backing out. That’s why the suicide forest became popular internationally. The concept being, even if you changed your mind, you’ll struggle to find the way out. But even they added markers and other assists. The only full-proof method these days is to be Canadian. 6 users liked this post: HaughtyFrank, benji, Uncle, HeavenIsAPlaceOnEarth, filler, Nintex

I cannot picture what this means nor how it helps stop suicides accessible way for other humans to get to that person and yank them off the track?

Basically, most stations are flat with some yellow paint and bumps (for the visually impaired). Now there are high sliding doors along the tracks that only open when the train arrives. The person would need to climb over the doors, instead of leaning forward a little bit. Less impulsive? I guess somebody with a 5ft vertical jump could do it. But… wait. Need to write a spec script about a basketball coach saving a suicidal guy and turning him into a star player. 3 users liked this post: saltygeneraltso, HeavenIsAPlaceOnEarth, benji
I have noticed a good number of these people who made big deals about leaving Twitter start being more active on it and many often are paying for Twitter too. And I don't mean people like Jeff or Hasan or Taylor Lorenz who never left. Progressive accounts that basically didn't post anything 2023-2025 and suddenly have returned without explanation.
Some that I know more about I know have been the target of the day on Bluesky at least once. 2 users liked this post: HaughtyFrank, Alpacx
