How to Bluesky link

I'm making this post a whole thread because we have less than 200 threads and it's far easier to search for threads/click back a page or two in the thread index than it is to randomly search the whole forum and hope

Unrelated but how do you turn a bsky link into that at:// link to properly embed?

I should probably make a more handy guide to this and other things but you take the tweet you want like: https://bsky.app/profile/fat4all.bsky.social/post/3mn4u5lbzd22b

And go to: https://embed.bsky.app/

It will give you:

That "data-bluesky-uri" is the link you want to put between the bsky tags.

The part after "did:plc" appears to be the account, so if you're posting multiple ones from the same account you can just change the part after "app.bsky.feed.post/" so like with the second Fat4all tweet, the URL is: https://bsky.app/profile/fat4all.bsky.social/post/3mmxy6ulot22x

You can just pluck the "3mmxy6ulot22x" and replace the end of the at:// from the first tweet.

Lots of people on Bluesky, especially in the Era/trans sphere, make it so you can't embed their tweets. Fat4all is a notable exception.

Bluesky's website is a liar and claims you can embed by clicking the three dots on a post but they took this away over a year ago. Their script still returns "placeholder!" if you send it URL's like Twitters uses, but at the same time I could also make it so all the embeds are dark mode unlike Twitter. They have oembed support but I'm not sure how to make this work without writing code for the forum to do it.

btw you don't have to go to the embed.bsky.app website to get the data-bluesky-uri. If you click on the share arrow and select "Embed post" the uri is there

This is a legitimate link, but the temptation to make it one of those thai websites the bots were spamming a couple weeks ago was extremely difficult to resist

honestly these days I don't trust anything but yt-dlp, or perhaps stacher as a front end for it

they keep changing how they do things to try and prevent downloading and only yt-dlp stays on top of it

and just due to the nature of the work you have to do in assembling all these tiny data streams together into a finished video or track...that's more work than most random free websites are willing to do without motivation (i.e. scams, invasive ads etc.)
