These are my favourite insects. There used to be a wasp nest that was attached to one of my windows when I was young and I used to watch the Wasps in their nest and buzzing about. I love these guys, they are way cuter than bees (I do love bees though)! Helps that I always also found Waspinator from Beast Wars adorable! It pisses me off to no end when I see people DEMAND they should all be destroyed, ecological disaster be damned (say goodbye to all your fig trees!) or act like their being evil (humans REALLY don't get to call over species aggressive).

People hate wasps because they are an invasive species and tend to kill other important animals and insects. Again, you should know better than anyone else unless you are just a poser.

Aiight I'll bite… what exactly is "organizing"? Like what's the tangible difference between the two in terms of actually getting shit done?

Here's my 3 tenants of "making a difference" or whatever tf you wanna call it:
1) donating
2) voting
3) getting people registered to vote

That last one I'm proud of the most. I got 6 people to register to vote for the first time in their lives this cycle… 99% sure one of em couldn't get his ass off the couch to vote but the other 5 registered did their part and I'm extremely proud of that.

What does "organizing" do? I'm genuinely asking because on the surface it reads like vague internet slacktivism folks yell into the void on social media. And if this ain't the thread for this discussion I'll chill but I didn't bring it up.

Well, donating, voting, these are individual actions. Organising is more collective. Joining an organisation. A community. A union. Protesting with others. These are real-world actions, the opposite of slacktivism. Not all of these will solve everything, but to pin the successful outcome as your only reason to do an action, then that is slacktivism. I'm sure you've got plenty around your area to get involved in. It's also more hopeful, than relying only on individual actions which can lead to hopelessness because you rest all the responsibility to create change on yourself.

This entire post reads vague af, literally no specifics, which is what I was asking for in that last post.

A lot of this ends up in areas related to tenant rights, eviction defense, bail funds and court hearings, community food banks and gardens, free and low cost healthcare from EMTs and Nurses, survival supplies (soap, gloves, tampons, clean needles, Narcan, condoms, masks, etc.) It also involves political education and workshops to teach people the theory behind the work, and to reflect and criticize the efforts of mutual aid, to improve them.

My man you understand this conversation's about politics, right? Scroll up a bit and see for yourself. If we wanna talk about volunteering just let me know because I can write up a long ass list of what I do for my community, with photos and everything..whatever tf you want.

My post is about politics too, politics isn't just voting. The seams and cracks of the state I am talking about are made through policy, and the work to shore up those cracks is a political act, and these folks are also very engaged in electoral politics as well.

Suggestions to organize can be applied to people in the ways that best fit for their needs and abilities, there are a host of things to do to help community members and you can do that on top of voting and helping others to vote. None of it precludes the other.

Also I am not asking for receipts, I am genuinely answering in good faith.

When you're finding yourself arguing for rapists of women to go to a women prison just because said rapist declare himself a woman out the blue after arrest, maybe consider that that was a sign of your cause jumping the shark?

Or calling biological women "womb havers";

Or thinking it's fine for pre-op transwomen to have their dicks flopping around in women/girls changing areas;

Or biting the heads off your own allies when they aren't complete doormats and disagree with your cause on one or a few points but otherwise supports it;

Or pressuring lesbians to try "lady dick" on the threat of accusing them of "transphobia" if they don't comply;

Or basically the entire issue with them competing in women's sports.

The trans movement have continuously burned bridges and presented itself in an aggressive, all-or-nothing matter. It's little wonder there's a backlash and erosion of support across the board. There's much the trans movement could have done differently these last 15-ish years to help ease society into being more open-minded about them.

or maybe that's what you mean, maybe the things they could've done differently would include not insisting on being permitted in women's spaces like sports, like, firmly recognizing that they will always have advantages and to just sit that one out, that's part of the sacrifice of transitioning to feel more like yourself

or one of the other things they could've done differently was to collectively behave in such a way that data like this doesn't end up being true
