Jo, you are bitter and twisted. A modern-day Miss Havisham. Bought court. You know it - I know it. I will always be more of a woman than you. The way you and your ghastly gang pretend to be the voice of all women is disgusting. And a joke. Along with the fact your daily sick bullying of women is completely ignored by UK media. You represent the Gender Critical movement - not women.  I hope your boat sinks. Go fuck yourself. Trash.

I've been stewing on this for a while, and haven't really dared write to the mod team about it or make a thread because honestly, I'm kind of afraid of catching a ban... And I don't really know what that says about me, or the team, or the state of the internet in general.

I'm going to preface this by stating that, as per the thread rules, I am not trying to relitigate a sanction.

I strongly feel like some of the rules are not clear enough, and that - while I fully appreciate the fact that the team has so, so much work - some of the answers to moderation questions are seriously lacking.

Here's the situation: I posted in the thread about the genocide in Gaza a while back, using a source that was not at the time included in the list of questionable or banned sources. I caught a warning and temporary threadban for citing a questionable source, and when I asked the mods for clarification - let me be clear, I asked for clarification, not a reversal - I received an automated response telling me that my warning would not be reversed and giving no clarification whatsoever, nor acknowledgement that I was sanctioned for citing a source that wasn't included in the questionable sources list.

I really feel like the mod team should do better in this respect, because enforcing unwritten rules and not acknowledging follow-up questions has a real chilling effect on participation.

Thanks for reading.

B-Dubs, post: 140213952, member: 143 wrote:The post literally says to use legitimate news organizations as a source due to the massive amount of disinformation surrounding the topic and you posted a YouTube channel that very specifically says it's not affiliated with any actual news sources and is backed by a patreon. It should be common sense.

Ramathevoice, post: 140215014, member: 8563 wrote:First of all, I'm legitimately grateful that you took the time to go check the specifics of what I was talking about. Thanks for that.

I'd read several Guardian columns by the guy, but I shouldn't have assumed that his own independent work was considered acceptable. I take responsibility for that lapse in judgement.

I don't disagree with the moderation decision, and that wasn't the point of my post ITT. I have an issue with the response I got when I asked for clarification: it read like an automated response to an appeal, which wasn't what my request was about, and did not answer my question.

"Common sense" is not a universal, and while I acknowledge that I made a mistake, I have only fully understood the specifics of it now that you've explained it to me. I swear I'm not trying to be obtuse, but if the original DM response to my question had been your explanation or something like it, that would've been absolutely fine.

I guess my point is that I'd like for requests for clarification following an infraction not be automatically treated as an appeal, but instead as, well, requests for clarification. And while I fully appreciate the likely volume of similar requests and/or appeals the team has to deal with (some if not many of which I imagine are disingenuous), I will say it would have been perfectly acceptable if an actual answer to my question had taken several weeks or as much time as needed, rather than a quick response that did not answer my question.

Thanks for reading.

Ashes of Dreams, post: 140245035, member: 69945 wrote:New thread! I self-banned from the previous one to cool off on stuff. Sometimes this forum is more enjoyable when you just wash your hands of caring about anything and force yourself to not get involved. We'll see how this one goes, might end up doing the same thing. But regardless I really appreciate the staff going forward with the yearly refresh on these threads. Said it last year when it started but it's a really good idea for numerous reasons.

But I did want to comment on this, just to let you know that it IS something that was discussed several times in last year's thread. Once by myself even, and by various others at other points in time, like here. There was some good conversation about it eventually, a few times. I truly think that part of the problem is that some members of staff will always assume the worst of some people. You can read on in those pages to see the kind of response I initially got. So I do think there's an element of just pure dismissal by some staff. I really wish that would change but after so many years it doesn't seem like any kind of good faith attempt to do so will be accepted. Or maybe I'm the problem. I don't know. But whatever.

It's not the only issue causing that though and the real reason I'm responding here is to point you in the direction of two posts Snormy made about the issue.
Here and here.

They are very long and very detailed posts about A LOT of stuff revolving around the ticketing system and how it's handled and why something like this may happen. It's not a necessarily satisfying answer but it is most certainly an illuminating one. You might find some level of inner peace by going through them. But really the current way they run the ticketing system seems pretty overwhelming and kinda broken. And not just for users but it seems kind of overwhelming for the mods too. Hopefully one day, for both users AND staff's sake, it can be streamlined or reworked to be better. Or they can get more volunteers to help out or something of that nature. I've definitely decided to just kind of stop using tickets for the sake of asking questions beyond simple requests since that incident.

But personally for now I do think they should just remove the Moderation Inquiry option in the ticket system altogether. The official on the books answer to this issue has really time and time again been a direct "we're not going to hold your hand" or "you should have known". So just remove the option to ask the question if you don't want to answer it. It's at least more honest this way. And if, down the line, some of the things Snormy talked about doing comes to pass, you can reopen the option.

Anyway, hope everyone has a good day!

Ramathevoice, post: 140260683, member: 8563 wrote:Thank you so much, I was honestly starting to feel crazy!

It's actually super reassuring to realize that I'm not the only one calling this issue out, that it has been going on for a while, and that I'm not the only one who's been responded to in a frustratingly dismissive way that doesn't actually answer my question. I got the exact same canned response to my moderation inquiry message, and someone else has even already used the phrase "chilling effect" to describe the consequences on discussion. It's exactly like you said at the start of your response: sometimes this forum is more enjoyable when you just force yourself not to get involved... which given that this is, y'know, an internet forum, is absurd to me.

Really great stuff by Snormy on the ticketing system as well. I'm in full agreement with their suggestions and I hope that they can be/have been implemented.

It really seems to me that the main issue we're having here is that the default assumption from mods and admins is that any user who questions an enforcement decision is that they're doing so in bad faith. This being the internet, I completely understand why and how this could happen, but it also leads to dismissive and/or aggressive behavior towards all the other people who are operating in good faith, which really sucks.

I get that there's no way to definitively prove that I'm operating in good faith, but I'm really frustrated that I have taken time and consideration to carefully describe my issues and phrase my questions to not read as accusatory and to emphasize that I'm not trying to get any special treatment or reversal and just trying to understand, only to be met with responses that clearly show that I haven't been fully read or understood until I press the issue.

So, once again, dear mods and admins: your job is hard, you get a lot of shit, and I appreciate the work you do. I brought up my issue not to relitigate it, but to point to an improvement I think you can make, which is the entire point of this thread if I'm not mistaken.

Is Ganesha possessing a woman that is a fat lazy nerd ( a character from Fate/Extra CCC).

In Fate/GO, when artists get lazy or Nasu wants money, some heroes or gods possess previous characters from the Fate series.

There are other fatsos in Fate/GO, but at least one is treated like “bad summon” because the game acknowledges that he was fit IRL (Julius Caesar).
What I’m trying to say is that character is a fat nerd that eats a lot.

It comes as Russia grapples with a dwindling birth rate and as President Vladimir Putin scrambles to encourage women to have children.

Literally have nothing better to do today, so I thought I'd write an update:
- Over 3 months have passed since they opened up for mod applications.....and the linked form has been deleted with no new mod announcements, so that went about as well as one of B-Dubs' tournaments lol
- aerie is now 'On A Break'
- Princess Bubblegum and Snormy are both 'back' from their 'On A Break's.
- Fairy Godmother, who was posting nothing but thread closure messages, if anything at all, is now suddenly very active.
- FelipeMGM, who despite not posting anything for almost 2 years, had a 1 day burst of activity in October 2024, then went dark again
- Kaitos, who did nothing but spout endless nonsense in the PoliEra thread has now gone cold turkey, not posting in there since early April and has now made Clair Obscur their entire personality.
- Morlas, I presume must be some other mod alt, as they do nothing but post in the Toonami thread, so I don't know why they bother being a mod, maybe to pad the numbers?
- Sheng Long is barely seen, having posted just 8 times this year.
And that's it; stay tuned for new moderators I guess......eventually?
