Nah, is just that the fans of the Manga/Anime are insufferable and overhype the shit out of the series. The Live Action success made clear that a lot of normies didn't know shit about the franchise either. 

Even if you dont like the Live Action show, make comfort that its going to create a conflict about fans of the OG Manga/Anime vs Live Action normies.

Good game that came in too hot at launch with all the glitches and performance issues but even before that people were primed to hate it cause of the usual gamer BS

The personality it had was pretty cringe, too much trying to go “hey these guys are quirky! Don’t you like them? You like them all a lot!” Rather than letting it come more naturally.

I would make the argument saints row has always done that with its characters. Its just that before this, it was done via 00's malibu's most wanted white rapper shit and you find that a bit more enjoyable.

The issue I have with SR fans, especially those who voiced their opinions is that Saints Row has realistically never had a consistent tone or even gameplay loop lol. Just look at how SR1 was essentially trying to go for San Andreas on (then) next-gen hardware, how SR2 decided to go way goofier then GTA IV was positioned to be. SR3 is the odd one out as it seemed like them just trying to really polish up the presentation of what they had from SR2 (and I know some people weren't happy about that either, removing characters like Johnny Gat and so forth). SR4 had them become fucking super-heroes.

Like when the reveal had people going "this isn't Saints Row" my literal thought was "what the fuck is Saints row to you? IS it the first game, the 2nd-3rd, the fourth?"

I haven't played the reboot myself, but word of mouth hasn't exactly made it sound like it has a lot of really standout moments in it

It was as good as Saints Row 2 but the internet decided that 20 somethings in 2022 should act exactly like 20 somethings in 2006 and nothing should ever change.
