The supposedly great action combat is clunky and is neither a good action game combat neither a good soulesque combat, it's just bad all around and unfun to play.
The story and narration that tries to be smart like NieR has nothing remotely well made or well written like the game it tries so bad to copy.
The exploration that tries to have fun level design like the Souls games is boring AF with huge pacing issues.

It's a great game with a number of neat elements to it. Definitely easier to settle into when you find an outfit Eve wasn't vacuum sealed into (the criticisms it receives are more than earned), which is thankfully early on and there's a load of options thereafter. More than a few eye-roll inducing elements to it but thankfully they're mostly front-loaded outside of a later enemy design and a couple of QTE segments. Combat is satisfying the more you build out the skill tree, to where just running around slaying is satisfying and the animations are acrobatic and fun.



Customisation (hair, outfit, earrings) and other elements (certain UI elements, cans) are cute, and the exploration of levels left room for a lot of poking around and being rewarded for it in a way I always wanted to engage with. Story is hollow but a couple of the side missions are pretty heartfelt. OST is a banger too.

I'm so glad Hasan is doing this journey through China. It's important for people to see what it's actually like there, not just the horror stories we get told through American media and government. The incredible infrastructure and how they have risen over a billion citizens out of poverty in just a few decades is what we should be looking at. This is a country that, for all the significant and very real complaints you can make about their government, is largely improving the lives of its citizens by leaps and bounds. Meanwhile in the USA it's just capitalist hellscape from end to end.
