Saw the videos, that was so reckless. Sure that barrier is weirdly placed but it's not placed for going 100mph. Public streets are not racetracks and we don't need to accomodate to people that treat them as such. If anything people should be pulled over and fined to hell and back, not make the streets safer for speedsters. I took that scenic route on a round trip, don't remember the barrier but it was quite some time ago. No problems navigating it and enjoying the scenery if you don't speed like a maniac.

In one of those avatar threads the usual suspects go on and on about how James Cameron was evil to Māori people using their culture, the haka, etc and casting white actors. Then the lead actor reveals he is Māori in an interview and how James Cameron had hired local anthropologists and cultural leaders to make sure it was respectfully portrayed. 

They quickly dropped that line of argument and moved onto the next rage cycle

I'm fucking sick of these stories where school administrators don't believe victims. You see this shit with bullying on top of SA too. Terrible

In my experience as someone who suffered from my massive amounts of "bullying", in some cases it's not that they don't believe you, it's just easier to blame victims when they snap then deal with the bullies (or they simply don't care), regardless of it's homophobia, ableism, fatphobia or straight up physical assault etc and it's especially bad if the victim is neurodivergent or has a mental condition. Even if the teachers want to stop it, if the Admin doesn't care their isn't much they can do.

The other bonus is that victims are less likely to complain to their parents in fear of retribution (because despite what lying cartoons said, telling an adult CAN make it WAY WORSE), making it more convenient to blame the victims.

Doesn't help victims often get gaslight and have less support from their peers who are very happy to lie for the bully or stay silent because they don't want to end up a victim or be considered a grasser.

I still remember when I was in middle school and I got stabbed in class with the teacher watching, and the principal's response when my parents went berserk was "they're so cute at that age!"

I have a similar story where a kid in Secondary School set me on fire (in front of a P.E. Teacher) and got away scot-free based "he comes from a bad family!", I still remember the disgusted response from the PE teacher because none of the students bothered to react to it and just walk by like nothing was happening as my clothes burned.

There's absolutely no justification for Gen AI to be used for anything. The environmental destruction it causes is reason alone to criminalize Gen AI completely.

So I think about this a lot, because, for me, finding out the truth about Stalin was litterally the moment Marxism Leninism clicked. It wasnt reading Lenin and it wasn’t even Marx, but Losurdo’s Stalin book (iskra books has a free pdf, go read it right now if you haven’t, please and thank you) that led me down the path I currently find myself. It was watershed on a multitude of levels, not the least of which was that Communism worked. We have the proof, and it is undeniable (if you have an intellectual couriosity and materialist understanding).
