To expand a bit on my earlier thoughts. Last year it was made clear that this thread was not a place where we can bring concerns or issues with moderation. I'm not litigating that past argument or the results that followed. I'm simply pointing out that it was established, rather firmly, that concerns with moderation and the dynamic between users and staff need to be done in private via tickets. 

In the months that followed it has now become a place where users just complain about other users instead. People rush here to express their feelings on how toxic this userbase is when in the same breath they just use this thread to shit on whoever happens to be annoying them for whatever reason. It's getting ridiculous. 

People don't like a thread? They come here and complain about it in hopes it gets locked. 
Someone said something in a way that bothered you? Rather than engage them directly, better come here and start a multi-page meltdown over it. 
Someone is posting too many threads? Let's nitpick how they choose to format their OPs, trying for the 12th time to see if the mods will make it a rule they can't post in the way they clearly like doing despite it hurting literally nobody. 

And that's not even getting into the people who come in here and try to gotcha the staff into feeling obligated to police the forum the way they want. Like the Pro-AI people who keep thinking they are slick when they capitalize on one person going too far to try and spin their narrative. I see you. The ones who got banned and the ones who didn't. 

What are we doing here?

I want to be straight, we literally never said this. What we said was if you have an issue with a specific ban then you should send in a ticket instead of coming in here to complain and brigade. We said that using this thread to stage attacks on individual moderators was not allowed. We literally never said you cannot bring in issues or concerns. Not once.

Why are we dunking on a review? Reviews are by definition subjective opinions, and subjectively that reviewer's opinion is just as valid as any other more positive opinion.

Doom became the zeitgeist of the era and changed everything, but how does that make what that reviewer felt any less valid?

Is media getting getting consistently similar reviews important in some way I don't understand?

Also, as a kid back then, I also really didn't see the fuss of Doom. I thought Wing Commander: Privateer was far, far more interesting than a kinda boring game where you run around mazes shooting demons. I still don't find the original Doom all that interesting. That's valid, right? As valid as people loving it?

I mean, people still call out Roger Ebert for some of his reviews.  

The Edge stuff is a nice reminder that the Edge staff can be wrong or out of touch. Is annoying how much you guys want to pretend that you consider reviews subjective and respect everyone opinion but have people like Messy bitching about how Civvie is trying to appease the Chuds:

The capital-G gamer crowd hate journalists no matter what but I think as we are above these animals (Gamers) we can at least admit to ourselves that while journalists are not inherently terrible, they are also not infallible creatures and can publish bad reviews. As we've seen with that Doom review, it's a not a good review. But Edge has great reviewers working for it then and now.

Like there's a modestly popular TV show thread where one user, from season 1, years before I joined, just was shitting on the show constantly and still does in season 4.
