I would like to draw the staff's attention to a matter that seems troubling to me. In the "crisis at Marvel" thread and now in the Loki Nielsen ratings thread, there are multiple posts (might be 15-20 between both threads) by various users making fun of a specific poster that is currently banned. Regardless of whether anyone believes that said user 'had it coming', targeted online attacks by multiple people against a single person who isn't even able to respond and defend themselves verges on online bullying.

Fucker wants to have them all banned. That’s one way to stop criticism of your favorite franchise.

Saying that stuff could be better and the world, while a better place overall, is still miserable for a lot of people is not controversial (I’m saying not to defend her or dismiss the dude point, because she goes nuts later and I don’t disagree with idea).

You're making the same exact fundamental error. "Stuff could be better" is either a nonsensical or tautological statement. In neither case does it justify despair and even less justifies demanding others also despair. "But there are things I dislike" is an is-ought error as the superior state you're comparing it to does not exist and has never existed.

edit: It's important to remember that the original quoted statement makes a historical time statement. "Everything is fine" IS historically true in that any earlier period would even less match the standard be it a hypothetical utopia or the current reality.

Im sure the comment wont be well received here, but honestly, my "constructive" critisism is said poster that's banned is a toxic bully, and its really hard to have literally an ounce of sympathy for them. Looking at the comments in the thread, the ones I saw were basically "gee its nice to be able to have a conversation now that said user doesnt rudely berate every opposing point". And honestly... yeah that checks out. Ive had several run ins with that user and they either purposely or unknowingly come across insanely rude and combative for pretty much anything that seems to go against their view.


So technically in order for the board to not descend into anarchy, yeah the comments shouldnt really be made, slippery slope and all that (plus they could just block said user like I did, makes things a world better). But yeah... they arent being that harsh and honestly the dude was part of the problem so I have zero sympathy for him.
