I will never understand how bent out of shape some people can get over things that are ultimately just supposed to be for fun. Star Wars is a film series about space wizards and ragtag rebels fighting a comically evil empire. It's not something serious like a debate over public policy is. It's a movie. You sit there for two hours to enjoy yourself. This is just as asinine as when toxic sports fans start fights or even riots over their favorite team losing (or sometimes even winning, for the sore winners).

For some people, it's not enough to simply dislike a thing. They have to hate it with all of their being, sometimes to the point of acting with outright malice towards anyone involved with their object of hate or anyone who actually likes what they hate. I was personally insulted and harassed online a few years back by some Star Wars "fans" for daring to have nice things to say about The Last Jedi. There's lots of movies and TV shows I don't like, but I don't make my dislike of them my entire personality. I just don't partake in them. Why is it so hard to just go "Eh, I didn't care for it" and just move one with one's life? I guess hate-doms and toxic fandoms just go to show you how deep tribalistic thinking runs in humans.

I've been reading comics for years. Inconsistency is to be expected in broad terms, but SW has been at least partially Romani since 1979 and it's become core to both her and Pietro since then

So for the first 15 years of her existence she wasn't and if it's been so inconsistent I would argue it's not "Core" at all but simply window dressing to be used when applicable. 

She can still be a darker shade of white or identify herself as more white, but I think asking a multi-billion dollar company (who makes movies and other things I like!) to do better in 2024 and most of all, try and be consistent with the character they've established is an extremely small ask.

They can't be consistent with MAJOR characters.

I don't know what is such a big ask in asking Marvel, who has a massive platform to the point where there are now thousands of people dressing up as Scarlet Witch every Halloween, to actually represent the culture she comes from in a non-stereotypical way going forward, put some Romani voices behind her at the very least as consultants and not let anyone describe the character as wearing a "gypsy thing".

Again, this would be a lot of effort for a character that most people don't know in depth about. A lot of people who dress up are doing it for asthetic reasons, not because they've ready every comic book appearance of the Scarlet Witch.

Because Travellers/Romani/Gypsy's culture tend to keep to themselves any sort of out reach is going to be difficult which means any sort of true representation is going to be difficult, so the best anyone can do is not be offensive which means making the characters blander.

From my own personal experience growing up near one of the biggest Traveller sites in the UK, my interactions with Travellers haven't been great.
