I feel an exception should be made because this is a containment thread and the circumstances behind it, and this thread should go straight into handouts. At the moment, it looks like WWE discussion is being actively promoted otherwise

This is what I tell people who mention how divided we are. Until the rightwing mediasphere is severely regulated, or even better, dismantled, all of this continually gets worse. Their reach is far and wide and getting bigger every day. They're also getting more radicalized and extreme. If anyone is truly worried about the division then going after the source of the cancer is the first thing to do, otherwise, you're just putting bandaids on stage 4 cancer, doing nothing while it spreads and infects everything.

Pretty sure that the end to most extremism is meaningful work, a stable home life and actual connection with your community (the people from the place you live, not the mentally ill online cellmates you’ve siloed yourself off with), not banning stuff. The whole extremist angle becomes untenable because most people buy in to the monoculture. 

That would require each side to admit that the other has legitimate grievances though and that they aren’t just racists or snowflakes.

listening to a podcast right now and one person is very obviously trans and it sounds exactly like my uncle but if he put on a fake high pitched voice

and he can't maintain it, if he talks for more than 10 seconds he slips back into his normal male voice, then after a while suddenly remembers again and his next sentence is a squeaky breathy cartoon character voice

I would respect this person so much more if they just gave up and spoke normally, the voice training isn't working and will never work, I don't know why anyone thinks this improves things and helps them pass

I think someone made a joke about how gov Cuomo inappropriately touched a woman's titties because he's Italian, and that struck me as a brash double-standard, it really upset me, so I downed a whole cannister of TUMS and sat my ass down on the computer to type a huge reply.  It was one of the few times i was really insulted on this forum, so i hacked away: "As an Italian, I'm an expert on sexual assault" etc etc  "Im the Doogie Houser of female degradation" something or other.  Basically, there's no way we'd stop at the titties, like absolutely no fucking way when a fresh puss puss is within reaching distance and we have plausible deniability (oh, no,no you misunderstand, ..we lick our fingers and touch the vagene as a greeting in our foreign land).  Hit the report button several times like a woman without her rape whistle..and the rest is, as they say in China Town, "China town".

It wasn't this post but over the past week I rethought about how I treat italians.  If you've ever hung out with them you can easily find their faults and sore points.  And it seems acceptable to insult them because after English Protestants and Irish they were the first white people in America.  not there fault they just wanted jobs

But maybe we should not.  I mean, I know it's wrong to insult the other races and think it's fine to insult the italians.  LIke, they don't have a space program?
