I passed out this morning.

Around 10, I got up to us the restroom and after I got done, I felt very lightheaded and nauseous, so I sat down immediately on the floor feeling like I was going to throw up.

The next thing I know, I was laying on my back staring at my bathroom ceiling, and I realized I passed out.

As soon as I tried to get up, I started feeling nauseous and dizzy, so I just stayed down. I ultimately ended up doing a crawl to my living room to get my phone to call my wife, and just laid down on my floor, not moving to avoid that nauseous/dizzy feeling.

As I was laying down, I saw my cat, Kittle, with the most worried look on his face staring right at me, so he knew something wasn't right. He then walked up to me and laid down right next to me and didn't move until my wife got home.

My wife tried to see if I could get out to the car, but the second I set up. I felt that dizzy/nauseous feeling again and knew if I stood up, I was going down again.

We ended up calling 911 and had an ambulance come. They took my blood pressure and as soon as I sat up to get into the chair to get me out of my apartment, my blood pressure crashed and I got very lightheaded and nauseous.

Ultimately, I was able to get out of my apartment without throwing up, and into a stretcher and to the emergency room.

Long story short, they hooked me up to an IV and drew some blood to do some lab work. The labs came back clear and I started feeling better and went home around 3.

I'm doing much better, but my anxiety has been high all afternoon.

The older I get, the more the "can't afford kids" argument seems increasingly unbound from reality. There's no state-levied Kid Tax, no CPS visits if you make under X income. Sure you might lean on the generosity of friends and family, hit up the thrift store more often, not always be able to buy the newest $600 toy every christmas and birthday, maybe even give up some stuff you want to buy for yourself, but like...that's all extremely, super normal parent behavior. I am genuinely puzzled at what costs these "can't afford kids" people are imagining MUST be paid? And poor people certainly never got that particular memo.

What strikes me as weird about the histrionics on the Cass Reports is that the basic findings weren't all that sexy/phobic/anything. It was boringly non-ideological.

The summary as I understand it is that the methodology was the big issue highlighted (poor sourcing/support on key findings, circular references between limited research bodies). I read through the Scientific American article, and Cal Horton at least is basically making her point for her...all of the studies I clicked through have his name on them, lol.

Yet further, his reviews are some of the most thoughtful and well articulated in the business.

What did he actually do? Legitimate question and I feel like if Era is going to ban content creators there should be some kind of archive posted on site so it's users can educate themselves as to why.

In the US, church daycares in particular are shockingly cheaper than your typical options. It was a lifesaver for us until school started. These aren't as prominently advertised, and I know most Era posters consider even uttering the word "church" to be self-harm, but resources are out there. Some localities have programs where if your income is lower than <$$$ per kid>, mainstream daycare is significantly subsidized. I know parents personally who are solidly middle class but don't spend a dime on full-day daycare.

Anyway, here is my more fundamental whine: people who parrot this stuff are robbing themselves (and others who take these theoretical boogeymen to heart) of their own fundamental human adaptability. Those who want kids should have them, and then marvel at how responsive their whole life can turn out to be. I feel very safe in saying that my own experience was wayyyyyy more expensive than the typical new parent price tag, but life finds a way.

Denying oneself the opportunity to have kids--especially when it's a stated life aspiration!--because of dollars and cents is sad and a shame.

Yeah as I understand it a big part of the review was that a lot of the studies are simply garbage and then you get garbage studies citing other garbage studies and so on. Another part was that these gender clinics are absolutely shit at keeping track of their patients which makes impossible to actually see the long-term results. It's all very embarrassing but they'd rather pretend the review was written by evil terfs

The establishment has reacted very badly to the BMA's call for further evaluation. The BMJ, various academy heads, Cass herself, and now several hundred doctors and professors have sent an open letter criticising the move. It's absolutely bizarre to see so many people with scientific backgrounds saying, essentially, you must not question this. If the Cass Review is as impeccable as they say it is, not only will it not be damaged by scrutiny, it will be bolstered by it. It is fundamental to the scientific method that science is questioned freely.

Is almost like they know they are playing politics rather than having misgivings.
