Disney churns out nonstop slop. Some of it features all the buzz words and items to appeal to certain demographics while simutaneously enraging another demographic. The end result is that everyone is talking about the show, streaming numbers are often decent to good, and the train keeps moving along. Flip side the engaged people constantly have the ability to make money off this with nonstop youtube/twitch/etc content about such and such being woke. Disney makes money, aggrieved content creators make money, everyone is happy whether they publicly admit it or not. This play has been run too many times for me not to see it. Like, how many times does the cast of [insert IP slop] come out and do one or more of the following: -Declare they've never seen the original films/read the book/read the comic -Declare this will be the first IP iteration that is universal or for all people -Make fun of original fans -Laugh about original fans being uncomfortable Surely if this was a problem that Disney was concerned about, they would have read the riot act to the cast. Yet that never happens. Why? They understand it's just content and the hate engagement is nearly as good for promo as actual marketing is. ![]()

They already forced out the previous CEO and brought back Iger because he goes along with the agenda.

Iger's approach is moreso fine we'll do that shit since it's the trend...but we're going to pull out our big guns (IPs) too. They're doing better now than they were. ![]()

They overplayed their hand. It barely passed before, but in 2024 there’s no shortage of trash media with a woman or non-white woman lead. There was another crummy sci-fi movie with a non-white lady fighting space nazi, and nobody pulled the “you’re an alt right chud if you don’t like rebel moon.” No culture war over A Quiet Place Day One starring a black lady. (Too lazy to look up other TV shows) That 3 Body Problem show that was mostly non-white with women leading the cast.
Like to bring up how they pre-taped the “actor claps back at racist fans” interviews before House of Dragon aired. Only nobody made a fuss and the character was well liked. It’s all fake. Rubes fall for corporations turning media consumption into an act of goodness. ![]()

One of the Acolyte actresses also talked about in a pre-show interview about how great the show is because it's female focused and star wars has been so patriarchal before. This comes after four movies focused on a female main character and Leia and Holdo being basically the leaders of the resistance in those. There's always this desire to talk about how groundbreaking their new shit is that just ends up throwing everything that came before under the bus and of course that pisses of fans. And it also feels pretty cynical as the POC actors just become a shield for a bad show. Amandla Stenberg seems like a totally fine actress but the script was simply garbage. ![]()

In the original Star Wars there's the scene where Luke and Han are trying to rescue Leia. They get stuck in a corridor and she says "this is some rescue" and takes the blaster from Luke and blows a hole in the wall and says "somebody's got to save our skin."
In the original movie, even though she's a princess, she shows herself as being just as capable if not more capable than the men. This was back in 1977. Both Star Trek and Star Wars were some of the most progressive shows around, especially at the time. Nobody in this age wants to take responsibility for anything. If the show doesn't get good ratings, not their fault. It's those fans of that progressive show that are keeping women down. What the fuck, don't they ever listen to themselves? ![]()
This the norm for most younger 'influencers' actors. Disney makes them 'stars' on social media, they feel loved and liked and think they are perfect in every way.
They hang out with people who call them 'brave' simply for showing up with their list of demands and trigger warnings. They happily make their woke Star Wars in their bubble of green screens where there is 0 pushback against anything and they don't learn anything. But then reality hits and their movie or show isn't a hit. But this is never their fault, they are perfect. The problem is the 'alt right' or their stupid 'fans' not their acting skills. Just a complete lack of accountability. What they don't understand is that it really hurts their long term career prospects. Compare her to Timothy Chamalet for example. He showed up for DUNE, did the job, and was simply humbled to work alongside experienced actors like Josh Brolin, Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Fergusson and Javier Bardem. He realized that he needed to grow as an actor and felt 'lost' on set as his famous co-stars basically pulled him through most of the scenes in DUNE. Overall it felt like Oscaar Isaac was the lead for the first act of the film, Fergusson for the second act and Zendaya for the third act. It fit the tone of the movie but it wasn't intentional and Chamalet was simply not able to take the lead so they had to improvise. When he returned for DUNE 2, Villeneuve and the cast were simply astonished by how much he had improved his acting skills in such a short period of time. In DUNE 2 there is no longer any doubt about who the protagonist is and he is no longer overshadowed by his co-stars. He put in the work to become a better actor. I think part of the reason why Disney needs the likes of RDJ back is because the acting of their new talent is piss poor but if they're all unwilling to learn believing they are 'perfect' it won't work. ![]() ![]()

If there were a word for interesting but not, portraying themselves as trans and not legit chicks with dicks or “futa” or whatever is a sign of the times.
Props to these false kings for gaming the market. ![]()

https://news.yahoo.com/news/white-fragility-author-accused-plagiarizing-171347236.html
Quote:The allegations: DiAngelo’s dissertation, titled “Whiteness in Racial Dialogue: A Discourse Analysis,” allegedly lifted material from Thomas Nakayama of Northeastern University and Stacey Lee of the University of Wisconsin-Madison without proper attribution. The complaint, which was obtained and first reported by the Washington Free Beacon, reveals 20 instances of alleged plagiarism. National Association of Scholars President Peter Wood, who likened one instance to “forgery,” told the Beacon, “It is never appropriate to use the secondary source without acknowledging it, and even worse to present it as one’s own words.” The allegations appear to extend beyond the two scholars. Quote:The complaint, which was recently filed with the university, accuses her of lifting material from multiple scholars — including two Asian American professors — and passing them off as her own. Quote:Ironically, DiAngelo’s website contains an accountability statement in which she insists that the work of people of color must always be cited if they have “informed your thinking.” ![]() ![]()

Basically yes but the same trick could be repeated over and over again on the same card so there was certainly something wrong with the system.
But now the bank faces a real PR problem. Are they going to invoke a shitstorm by bankrupting a bunch of poor people or press charges for fraud, will they allow them to return the money they have or do they turn it into a very long term loan? How do you fix something like this. Judging by how they tossed bills into the wind, I doubt much of it is left after the weekend.
09-01-2024, 06:34 PM
Why would the bank not press charges on these knuckleheads? Even when banks accidentally put money in the wrong account and somebody goes out and spends it the banks will still go after those people and win.
I don't see how this is a PR problem if they prosecute. ![]()
They're a bank. Why would they care about bankrupting a bunch of fraudsters? They bankrupt people who don't commit crimes all the time...

Seeing more about Dustborn, I’m in a state of disbelief. Everything about it is a perfect shitpost on the absurdity of tumblr brain. But it’s all earnest. Unironic. People found Twitter posts of the studio from pre-Trump, pre-gamergate. Studio head was a nutjob way back. True believers in all this. Sheltered Norwegian guy inspired by Joss Whedon.
