By the way it turned out those negative reviews for House of the Dragon were mostly from Muslim countries who were upset over lesbians. So that's a whole different can of worms than just "toxic fandom"

Steam has one of the best review bombing response things I've seen. It detects a sudden rush of outliers and then tells you and lets you either see them or not. It's pretty much entirely trusting you to look at those and see if you think they're legitimate or some temporary controversy. But Valve doesn't sit there and try to "correct" the score because they correctly suspect that it's temporary statistical noise and will be overwhelmed by legitimate reviews over the long run.

Review bombing is dumb but in most cases you don't need reviews, you only need barely functioning eyes and ears to see how crappy these products are.
The Disney slop these days has horrible quality CG. XMen movies of the early 2000s have more pleasing visual effects compared to what Disney puts on the screen.
Your average JRPG CG cutscene on PS2 is better animated.
You can compare Star Wars Outlaws to the last Splinter Cell to find more advanced physics and better take down animations.
Metal Gear Solid 5 a game launched in a half finished state 9 years ago runs, looks and plays better than most of the latest AAAA products put out by western studios this year.
Also there is a new type of "reception" that is perhaps worse than the toxic fandom. Games like Concord and Dustborn that bomb so hard because literally nobody gives a shit.

from the comments, sounds like the "unnofficial" server was actually the original server, and the biggest one
![[Image: 3DoQiul.png]](https://i.imgur.com/3DoQiul.png)
both servers have the same mods, and you can't even get into the new official one because they locked it due to the current drama, so the only server anyone can get into is the one with the incredibly racist mod, or something
![[Image: 44RCy33.png]](https://i.imgur.com/44RCy33.png)
I'd say there's some degree of spin there. Like the tweet they totally didn't expect to be controversial arguably tried to stir some culture war flames by asking people to show off their "woke Godot games"
Then some dude merely replied with "can we keep politics out of it?" and was instantly blocked. Turned out that guy was some kind of diamond tier donor who then made a big stink about it. That they're now arguing the poor community manager was just overwhelmed feels like reaching considering nothing in that reply was an insult
update
one of the original and best godot contributors became incredibly disillusioned with the project, was pushed out by toxic leadership, and wrote a massive expose on how it's being mishandled (literally a book)
https://waiting-for-blue-robot.gitlab.io/
or a 2 hour video, if you prefer
![[Image: HVwVRRp.png]](https://i.imgur.com/HVwVRRp.png)
I think this guy's communication style leans toward the annoying? just wants to imply things a lot of the time, perhaps so as not to incur litigious wrath?
this might be the most informative part of his book: https://waiting-for-blue-robot.gitlab.io/no_longer_a_blue_robot.html
or y'know these sections
![[Image: XmOX00p.png]](https://i.imgur.com/XmOX00p.png)
the implication seems to be that the top level maintainers have a vice grip on everything and want to raise money for themselves which doesn't actually go into the project at all, longstanding issues go unfixed in favor of focusing on community fuckery
fortunately, some people got fed up with this latest controversy and have forked godot into a new version, redot!
open source software
some people are saying that some of the biggest longstanding developers on godot have already jumped ship, hoping they can actually finally fix issues that kept getting rejected by the god-king maintainers
the godot community is harrassing them and trying to interfere with their project already
Open source game engine developer exhibits autistic traits and behaviour!

Such a cool idea that they've done fucking nothing with. I mean, this should 1000% be the setting of a huge set-piece battle to end an entire saga if there's any sort of real planning going on over there.
Maybe ask Slayven about the Celestials? (And Galactus.)
Or look at the Captain America trailer.

Quote:So, I've been basically going down the check list of making sure I get all my health stuff updated and in check throughout this year, since you know that shit is important to do. After finally finishing all my dental work, I decided it was time to finally get my eyes checked because it's been a really long time. Now, for reference, I've seen this image above for so many years and stumbling upon it made me realize I might have an astigmatism considering I did always struggle to see at night due to all the lights or even while watching movies sometimes because the light streaks would be distracting. Like most people, I thought that was normal and just how people saw but no, younger me was dumb and wrong.
Fast forward to today, I went to take an eye exam and it turns out that this picture that's often spread across social media is actually right. If you see lights like the image above at night, you might (or likely do) have an astigmatism and I can say that because it turns out, I just found out that I do actually have an astigmatism and do need to get glasses for this exact reason.
Just wanna shoutout this Tiktok because it's what made me finally book an eye exam appointment to find this out. Without stumbling upon this Tiktok recently, I might've delayed finding out this news for who knows how much longer:
Anyways, I guess it's time for me to figure out where to buy glasses online now lol

Shit heads like Liz Cheney or Adam Kinzinger are still bad people. They're still Republicans. They'd flip the moment Trump dies/leaves. But for now, they can't get power in their own party so they'll hijack ours. Don't normalize these people!
Okay this rhetoric bothers me. It's one of the reasons things have become so polarized is because we treat opposing parties as blood enemies as if we should never associate with them because "GOP" blood runs through their veins. We already seen instances on the other side where they claim they would rather vote for Putin or a pedophile than a Democrat.
But aside from extremists or political diehards, most regular everyday Republicans and Democrats have somewhat irregular shaped political beliefs. I watch a local city council meeting where this very pro-military Republican was giving a passioned speech on the need for our local & state government to do more to house, feed, and give medical assistance to the homeless. His stance on homelessness was super liberal and he's probably been more actively involved on the issue than most people in this forum where we just talk about it. But he's still a diehard 2nd amendment Republican and on the balance of issues, I probably wouldn't agree much with him at all. Does that mean though I should spit in his face if he offers to collaborate on an anti-homelessness initiative or event because he's a "filthy Republican"? If your answer is yes to the latter, then nothing will ever get better and we might as well throw in the towel and just get started on the civil war now.
Liz Cheney actively supported policies that I found disgusting. I would never vote for her unless under extreme circumstances. Liz Cheney was in lockstep with the MAGA GOP, but when they tried to overthrow democracy, that was too much for her. However unlike other Republicans who only made complaints behind closed doors and still kissed Trump's ass in public to protect their career, Liz Cheney said, "WTF GOP" and then when she was met with silence and threats, and instead of slinking away quietly like everyone else does, she said "Fuck you GOP!" She lost her high ranking House position. She lost her seat, which she could have kept for the rest of life. She lost her influence in the party. And instead of hiding under rock for the storm to blow over for a cushy GOP lobbyist job, she's now on even bigger "Fuck you GOP!" tour by actively campaigning for Kamala Harris AND the Texas Democratic Senate candidate! She's also been continuing to bang the J6 drum and is one of the reasons why Jack Smith's J6 case was even able to take flight in the first place.
Say what you will about Liz Cheney, she has giant steel ovaries who was willing to torch her political career in order to try to burn out MAGA from the GOP, which she sees as a threat to democracy. Our interests are definitely aligned right now and she can certainly speak to Never Trumpers or help convince a few moderate Republicans on the margins that "maybe Harris isn't such a radical lefty if NeoCon Liz is actively campaigning for her".
When Kamala Harris becomes President, what will happen to Liz Cheney? No clue. I don't really care. If she wants to become the new Michael Steele and go on the MSNBC news circuit, that's whatever. Keep in mind, being a MSNBC paid contributor is a HUGE step down from being in House leadership of Congress, so let's not pretend she's doing all of this just so she can sit next to Rachael Maddow for 80k a year. Maybe Harris will throw her a low level cabinet position? That's better than nothing, but still nothing compared to the path she was on in the GOP leadership where she had the potential to be the speaker of the House.
Like quite a few Americans, Liz Cheney is complicated. On quite a few issues her moral compass is way off the mark, but on democracy, her compass points at true north and unlike most politicians, she was willing to slash and burn her own career to stay on true north with democracy. I give her respect on that. Most people sacrifice their principles for career and power. She sacrificed her career and power for her principles on democracy. This kind of white nonsense is exactly why Nepenthe doesn't feel safe in the PoliEra thread.
