Without condemning or condoning, I think the overreaction is understandable among the landscape of modern games.

Ciri taking over is fine. But the detractors see it as another franchise going from a man protagonist to a woman protagonist. They’re more concerned about the patterns and trends and less any one instance. They need to take their wins where they can. Mafia 4 has an Italian man, which is close enough.

But it also shows how many of them are bandwagoners and don’t care about the franchises they are “fighting for”. I get why they get annoyed and why the trailer doesn’t help, but they also look bad for the people that actually follow those franchises.

And it is also affects people with legitimate gripes with what was shown so far.
