Don't forget that $20,000 in credit card debt. That shit will fuck anyone's finances.

I’ve been in rough credit card debt from decades old desperation as well. I empathize with them in that case, but that’s why Bankruptcy exists. If you can’t possibly pay all your bills, then you can declare and start fresh (or fresher). 

But that will require them going through and justifying their expenses to someone, even if a sympathetic actor, like their bankruptcy attorney. And I’ll put dollars to donuts that they aren’t as strapped as they think they are.
