2024: yay, nay, or gay?

yay: 

• got a job, kept the job, despite numerous hurdles
  
• managed to save a little money
  
• read more books than the previous year
  
• celebrated first year of not drinking
  

nay: 

• mom died in april; thought we'd have another decade with her, but alcoholism fucking sucks
  
• game dev is a shitshow right now, with the Embracer bullshit still sending waves of fecal matter around the entire dev ecosphere. Ubisoft closed their Osaka office despite the ¥ being at a 40+ year low, meaning already low Japan salaries are even cheaper atm; how the hell does closing Osaka dev make a single iota of sense? 
  
• man, how the fuck did America re-elect Trump? Not just some bullshit flyover state Electoral College win, but an actual popular vote majority? How do Americans have such insane ignorance of their own position in the world?

• really happy to see more gay and bi characters in modern media, without making that the central or single aspect of their personality
