Milkshake duckery? As of now there's a single twitter post mentioning GRRM going on a "hoe cruise" with Gaiman on cons. That's not even an allegation. Lots of authors sleep around on cons and GRRM as an original 60s hippie is probably one of them, but as long as everything's consensual that's really nobody's business.

That isn't even in the same universe as the allegations against Gaiman
That's true, you make a good point in that it is the lack of consent that is the problem with Gaiman. The both of them strike me as unattractive, deeply odd men who would otherwise not have access to these women if not for who they were. The thought of GRRM heavily breathing in and out of his mouth, sweat pouring off of his neck and brow like a prime Patrick Ewing, thrusting his little proud point into someone while demanding that they call him "kingslayer" is gross to me, but on the other hand, reading the Gaiman allegations was not something I was even able to complete, because it was so nauseating. It was one person getting everything they wanted in a dehumanizing power fantasy, and the other person receiving actional sexual abuse. So yeah, those would be two examples of famous fiction writers exploiting their celebrity and influence to have some kind of sex, there is a commonality there, but in Gaiman's case we know what that looks like, we don't have to speculate about it, and it's....fucking harrowing.

Quote:no disrespect to you, but I've read a lot of weird theories about why GRRM can't finish ASOIAF, and "he only wrote books to have sex with young women and stopped because he was famous enough" may be the stupidest I've heard so far

I don't feel disrespected, just that you may have missed the point of what I was saying earlier, or are doing the "respond to super reductive version of a post" thing. It's fine, I won't press it further. I forgot about the sheer scholarship on the matter that was already out there, and I don't want to make fantasy fiction fans think they've lost two writers today, when it's really just the one. I've already earned infractions on this site for (check this out) "making fun of Donald Trump's appearance" and (not even joking here) "making fun of homophobes." I don't want to invite further action by making a Mountain out of a heresay mole hill that GRRM was on the same sex boat as Neil Gaiman says one person without unsubstantiation--> "therefore they obviously treat women the same way," because that's just too flimsy of a case to make here or anywhere. Plus, I wasn't the person who brought it up even, just reacted to it, and out came the GRRM defense force. So, you're right, dude. The way men who achieve wealth and fame often act as a result of those things can be disgusting, writ large, sure, but as far as we know, one and only one of the people we've been talking about has had these allegations against them, and that's Neil Gaiman. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
