I've tried most of the modern YS games but the only one I ever liked was oath in felghana

They talk too fucking much in the modern games. It's like Trails is bleeding into Ys in a bad way.

I still like them all*, but the Oath/6/Origin era was definitely the sweet spot. 

*The Ys X demo really did not impress me, but I'm willing to give it another chance when the Plus Ultra edition drops.

The Ys X demo certainly didn’t do anything to limit the wordiness of the games. I’ll say, it’s not exactly a new game but Nayuta Boundless Trails feels closer to the 6-era of Ys. Helps that it’s shorter than the recent games as well. Since 7 they’ve gotten three times as long.
