The first time I tried to watch Inherent Vice I switched it off because it wasn't making much sense. I read the book a few months back then watched it again last night. It made a bit more sense. It's not perfect by any means but knowing the characters definitely helped. It's going to be interesting to see how PTA adapted Vineland.
