I've met a few expat veterans who have ended up there, and they're just as overworked as anywhere else. They seemed just as likely to move on as anyone I've met in the industry.
This article is talking specifically about the "shin-sotsu" system, hiring new employees directly out of school when they graduate. The fact that Nintendo is a huge, recognizable brand and is perceived as being remarkably stable is key above "pleasant working environment."
I believe the salary information to be wildly inaccurate. JPY11M is a fucking king's ransom over here. There's no way that's the "average" Nintendo salary.
