NC and WI have been the GOP's lab for the horrendous shit they want to put us all through. Probably a preview of what Linda McMahon will cook up.

That any parent is willing to have their kids taught by random slimy fucks off the street in classrooms more crowded than Noah's Ark is simply evidence that the education system has already long-since failed, thus making these changes redundant.

Can't wait for the "Unlicensed teacher arrested for sexual abuse of students" headline.

Under state law, class sizes are capped in K-3 class sizes with no limits for other grade levels [...] State GOP lawmakers lowered K-3 class size limits in 2017, saying it would help improve instruction. But school districts, such as Wake County, have complained it’s led to them reassigning students and putting enrollment caps at some elementary schools.

While the bill says school districts can hire unlicensed teachers, it says you’d need to be a college graduate to teach the core subject areas of mathematics, science, social studies, and language arts.

The legislation also says unlicensed teachers who are hired by school districts have to complete preservice training in these areas:
▪ The identification and education of children with disabilities.
▪ Positive management of student behavior.
▪ Effective communication for defusing and de-escalating disruptive or dangerous behavior.
▪ Safe and appropriate use of seclusion and restraint.

So, the GOP is rolling back a requirement that they instituted (for only grades K-3), at the request of NC counties. I also have to note, under all other circumstances, having hiring requirements that would exclude homeless crackheads would normally be considered deeply discriminatory on Era, but now apparently college graduates are no better than slimy child molesters. 

Also I'm not surprised that a forum of people who largely don't have kids (and mostly have never known the touch of a woman) don't realize that schools use loopholes to allow unlicensed teachers to fill unmet demand already.

That isn't even touching how uniquely weird it is to get degree in teaching. Most states (not just NC) require a full semester of unpaid full-time student teaching.
