Are there shows, films, fiction, activities, hobbies etc you like or love and are happy to talk about with friends and family but just don't online or keep to a minimum?
Whether because of bad experiences, toxic fandoms, getting no joy from discussing online etc etc.
I rarely talk about anime anymore due to a mixture of bad experiences (both from fanboys, the mysogist parts of the shonen fandom and the snobbish "anime isn't REAL art like western animation/is all bad (because I think it's all shonen and ignore all the Media made by women and LGBTQ+ writers and artists)" crowd. Yuri/wlw discussion is the exception because I find it to be a safe haven, especially in places that are lesbian and wlw dominated.
I don't talk about Smash much because I find, especially roster discussion brings out the most toxic people who are ready to attack, be hypocritical (Oh I hate "anime" swordsman but want Dante in who totally isn't very obvious heavily anime inspired!!! /S) and just nasty to each other or demand x character being cut because they hate Y fandom, to hell with others joy.
I think I'm going to stop bothering talking about invertebrates online. I love all animals (marine invertebrates especially), but unless their mammals or "cute", it just doesn't feel worth it because either don't care, make it clear they don't care about animal rights or the environment or just mock and shame me for it (or talk about how much they want to kill them).
