When I was but a lad, it was considered by correct-thinkers to be extremely offensive to suggest that a woman's behavior is affected by their cycle. The reason being that it could (and, to be fair, probably was) used to dismiss women's opinions, particularly if they are complaining or upset.
Lately that whole dialogue has turned on its head: I'm so uncontrollably horny when I'm ovulating, I'm so evil and insane when I'm on the rag, I can't be held responsible for my choices or behaviors, I need a man who understands that I'm a psycho under the light of the full moon and that is just Real Women Science.
I can see how it would be frustrating if you lived through both and were on the other side of the debate. But it's not facists turning this pivot...it's mostly women themselves, in my experience.

I'd say it's more to do with the rapidly multiplying idea that mental health problems like OCD and anxiety and neurodiverse conditions like autism and ADHD are to be worn like medals for the world to see and appreciate.
