On Doom, I'm giving Doom 3 another go after 20 years now. Pretty certain I never finished it back then, because it was 2004 and there was no shortage of incredible games coming out. And since Doom 2016 there's been this re-evaluation of Doom 3. People appreciating it as a "survivor horror" game and such.
Don't know about all that. It's pretty boring! Every enemy placement is, gee wiz, will a demon jump out at the end of this hallway?? Shotgun needs to be up an imp's ass to do damage, which isn't terribly difficult given every arena so far is a tiny room or hallway. Don't know if I'll continue. Maybe I'll skip to the expansion packs.
At the time I recall some Doom 3 vs Half Life 2 debate, pre-release. Don't think anybody humored that after playing both games. Also id tech 4 seems to have some quirks with frame rates above 62. Was looking into replaying Prey and there isn't a community fix around it like with Doom 3 and Quake 4.
