I remember seeing some iteration of this idea about black people in the past. I think where it really falls apart is this insistence that all of these late-comers have this rich, varied and rewarding social life.

I am a long time "late-arriver" (not latino, just a discredit to the white race) and have been friends with many late-comers myself. And I can tell you we're not running from a child's baptism(?) to a wedding to a birthday party to catching up with mi abuelita. We are all either A) laying in bed til the last minute, B) jacking off til the last minute or C) both.
