Imo kinda depressing that he takes this stance because I thought Slumdog Millionaire would be the example of how to do it right. Afaik they had an almost entirely Indian crew working on the movie. Just because you make a movie about another country it doesn't become cultural appropriation. What happened to the idea of bringing different cultures together? I'd also argue that the movie got more people interested in India and Bollywood, so what was the harm here?
