"Read the theory", "read a book", "it's not on me to educate you" and stuff like that is the same. It's not a real suggestion, it's not helping the person understand, it's calling them stupid but being dishonest about it because you can always claim there's an explanation somewhere they just have to find and read to see the light. Never is there one, especially if they don't point you towards where you're supposed to even start. The person just feels they shouldn't have to explain themselves to a lesser, which you are because you questioned them.
