Made the switch to bluesky, but at least the German part of it is sooo dead....

Was thinking about going back several times..

I keep hearing this and I still don't understand. What actual German Twitter accounts are you missing? Like, what concrete accounts? Most of the left is there, most if not all media is there, many if not all public and official agencies n stuff are there. I honestly don't know what could be so important that it would make German bluesky "dead".

That's simply not true. Take ZDF for example. Has an account but zero posts. Take my local emergency services, have accounts but zero posts. I could go on but you get the idea.

Is it really true what people are saying? You need Twitter to that degree? Websites don't post information outside of their Twitter accounts? You can't visit multiple sites, forums, and even Reddits to stay informed?

Any ERA members that aren't on Twitter yet stay informed?

For US users who claim to NEED Twitter for their local news, I don't quite understand. I'm able to keep up with my current city's news as well as my hometown of 15,000 people pretty well without Twitter. There are tons of other sources of information that get it to you as its happening.

TV station websites, other not-completely-filled-with-nazis social medias, text alerts, etc. Maybe a very, very small fraction of people can't get their news anywhere else, but I'm not buying that you literally have to have Twitter to survive.

These posts are making my mind melt.
Twitter is deeply embedded into Japan's news media and emergency services. If you want the quickest information when an emergency happens you literally need to use Twitter because depending on the area that is all they will use to post information.

Eh, 40% of Japanese people aren't on Twitter, and they're not dying in emergencies or lacking for local news.

No country is at 90% or greater Twitter saturation. The reality is hundreds of millions of people the world over do not use it, and they're not Amish or whatever. People act like it's air or water. I promise, you're not gonna die if you don't have an account.

I don't live in Japan so I literally can't comprehend this which is why I'm asking for clarity. These news sites do not post their own information on their own sites? If they see an emergency happening on Twitter it'll just stay in the Twitter ecosystem?

No point in even going down this rabbit hole again on this site though. Like it went from oh I need my sports and art to oh, Americans just don't get the world doesn't revolve around them bs as of these aren't numerous examples of the owner trying to influence things overseas just the same. As with everything in life, some people can't do the most basic of things to stand up for their so called views and I'll just leave it at that.
