Do we need to bring back the capeshit thread?
KEEP IN MIND I AIN'T SEEN THIS SHIT YET, SO WILL WALK BACK ANY AND ALL TAKES IF NECESSARY
That review makes it sound great!

I think its more about 'the vibes' in just leaning into the silver age weird shit instead of trying to ground everything in pseudo science like 'the metagene', as well as efficiency of story telling.
Capeshit has been the default movie experience for well over a decade now.
You don't need to have a slow burn "HOLY SHIT, THAT PERSON CAN FLY???" crowd reaction to acclimatise movie goers.
Its like the action film genre has moved from "This guy is super trained special forces, and is going to cat and mouse the bad guys one by one to take them out" to "Uhhh this guy used to be a mob something or whatever and retired, yada yada yada, but now hes back and will go into a room of 20 people half his age and hardcore fuck them all up then drop a cool line as hes leaving and looks back at them"
Nah, this is all very comic booky, as above; the first post-Crisis event crossover was Glorious Godfrey as Rush Limbaugh using the 80s equivalent of social media to wormtongue people against capes.
A contemporary version of that is fine. Especially if you consider what kind of fucking terrifying dystopia a world full of super powers really would be like to live in.
That also seems pretty consistent with a lot of their portrayals, I would say ever since Alan Moores "For The Man Who Has Everything".
Its also been the standard portrayal of Daxamites who just got fucked on the RNG of what their equivalent Kryptonite is being way more fucking common.

This review is pretty accurate...

And that Hollywood will probably continue to be immune to poaching any of the coherent plots or ever digging past the canon of "CBR MUST READ" works that often aren't even that good.

In fact, I consider the entire premise both highly stupid and insulting because I'm tired of self-proclaimed elites going on and on about how everyone else is brainwashed by whatever they see as we, the audience, pat ourselves on the back for not being like that even as it's happening at the very moment.

The idea that people would suddenly stop trusting and start hating Superman years into his career makes absolutely no sense to me. Perhaps I'm missing a nuance in which the only people who takes any of it seriously is Clark and Lois who take it overly seriously as if there's nothing else and see everything as confirming it, while everyone else in the world continues on appreciating Superman as if the "online hate mob" doesn't even exist but I'd be highly skeptical you'd ever see that depicted in any kind of blockbuster movie.
