A lot of these people do the same kind of lying where there's a thin strand tying it to something true, like PlanetSmasher does, so if anyone calls them on it they can distract everyone with the "proof" that actually confirms they've been lying.
There was a trans grifter (aka expert) doing this kind of thing talking about how they couldn't find any non-bigoted doctors to do their gender affirming surgery and so needed to raise a huge amount of money to go elsewhere for it. But in their years of lying they didn't keep track of their lies well enough, because they're stupid, and once essentially admitted the truth: they were like 400 lbs. And elective surgery is rarely performed on people with BMI over 32 or higher because stuff like the anesthesia can kill you. In their bitching about the bigoted doctors they said the doctor wanted them on a starvation diet and to lose 150 lbs, which because they'd been lying that they were 250 lbs just made all the lies more obvious since no doctor would tell a 6-3 person to starve themselves down to 100 lbs. But you know what losing 150 lbs off ~400 lbs would do? Put them almost exactly under the BMI limitation. As if this wasn't enough proof they started writing all kinds of threads as an expert "disproving" BMI and other fatphobic stuff like that people should lose weight to improve their health.
I've seen tons of accounts that are constantly needing money for rent, never get it publicly and yet magically always make rent each month and never get evicted like they said. Never do they mention who came through and paid for the rent. Never do they explain this. You just wait for the cycle and gasp, they need rent again or they'll be homeless! They were doing this even when evictions were paused everywhere due to COVID. They do it in states where it's illegal to evict a person until they're so many months behind rent. They do it in states where there's public policy to cover rent shortfalls for unemployed and legally disabled people. They're stupid so they don't know their lies are terrible.
Britt's right, most people don't actually care, they just pass over these people lying. Paying attention to them for any amount of time actually makes their grifting more of a problem because the lies become too obvious. Britt and Wylder could plausibly be a decade into doing this online, we're coming in far after they've wasted all their good lies. They're still plugging away because there once were glory days where people actually gave them money and they think they can just manipulate people back to that point not realizing their online grifting career is long over, they haven't been on the All-Star team in years and it's time to retire.
They latch onto the online progressive sphere because that culture makes it verboten to call out the lies of marginalized people. Look at how Era has always treated our community for doing that.
