Had to play tour guide and ended up doing cliche Japan tourist stuff like karaoke with Americans and Japanese groups.
tl;dr every Japanese person who knows a little bit of English really likes John Denver’s Country Roads. They only know and sing the chorus and hum all the other lyrics.
The top list of songs English speaking tourists choose has Radiohead’s Creep. Patrice O’Neal clocked them.
Biz Markie’s Vapors isn’t on the song list.
James Brown’s Living in America was. The guys over 40 appreciated it because they love Rocky. Patriots.
