Columbine was a genie that can never be put back into the bottle.

People know that if they do this, their names will be known and their stories will be told, and for desperate, and broken people who feel abandoned and invisible that can obviously be all too appealing. These kids and young adults used to leave the world barely noticed, with little more than an obituary in a local newspaper.

Now they go out leaving sizable scars on society. Filling newspapers with headlines. Fueling the culture wars that drove them to desperation in the first place. Making the world *worse* for the people they leave behind. Be it parents scared to leave their kids at school, or trans people scared of what new horrors they'll have to withstand in the wake of this.

Oh, also, *ban the lethal tools that facilitate this*.
