this is a month old, but interesting, but 8 hours long, but still interesting

curious what benji thinks about whether they have any jurisdiction or responsibility here, or if this was just an empty rally
the FTC's argument is that they weigh in on things like literal snake oil salesmen misleading the public about their product, so why not people who have been sold a lie about the efficacy of gender-affirming care?
about 20 times during the event, they mention the phrase "would you rather have a dead son or a live daughter" and how that plays on the most core of a parent's fears to coerce them into one specific course of action
they have several "panels" but none of them are really panel discussions, they just each talk in turn at length and then are maybe asked one question before moving on to the next thing, it is really a series of individual speakers
I think it's largely partisan in terms of the speakers there, but in general I didn't get the impression that anyone was misrepresenting what's occurring or outright lying, though there was ONE crazy lady talking about how a bunch of doctors should be in prison...it's funny how you can tell these people from their tone and the theatrical way they conduct themselves
there was at least one confirmed token liberal/lesbian in Jamie Reed (at 5:45:40), a gender clinic whistleblower who just couldn't take what she was doing to kids anymore; her brief speech was about the other angle that gay people deserve to exist in their sex/gender and be gay, and how we're transing away the gay population
if you don't listen to anything else, the lady at 5:54:10 is entertaining, she seems naive and generally non-confrontational and tells her story about how she got swept up in all this stuff as a bit of an outsider, and accidentally asked The Forbidden Questions
the starting section is also worth listening to, some powerful stories form people harmed by transition or attempts at transitioning them, such as a detransitioner at 35:40
some of it might be intentional emotional manipulation but overall it feels like a fact-based and well-argued event
