"even as cited in federal documents harming trans folks"
If Jesse wasn't such a dumb lib and a journalist (but I repeat myself) he'd push back against this harder and more often. These people are literally saying nobody should ever report any information at all because of the possibility that someone might cite it for nefarious purposes. Jesse, and now that one NYT woman they all hate, gets cited because he's one of the only people to ever report any of this.
There was an unrelated case where I saw "leftists" were attacking someone for being cited by a conservative Supreme Court justice. This is just how law opinions (and lots of shit in general) work, you have to cite your claims not just make them. In this case Clarence Thomas had one of his law clerks type the thing into the New York Times (the most prominent paper that exists) to find an article about it and then that was the one they were citing. But this was a scandal that the journalist would write something Clarence Thomas would cite. Even though Thomas was citing it to show that the thing was happening and was entirely irrelevant to any of his reasoning. I don't even remember what it was, completely mundane, probably something like "people are coming to the US through non-legal means."
The opposite would absolutely be necessary for trans people, like if you said "trans people are dying" and then cited that 350 killed in the world number. That's just how citations work, but apparently to them it'd be valid for the organization that reported that number to be attacked by everyone else and dismissed because a bad person cited the figure. Oh, wait, that's never the case because double standards are the only standards that should exist.
It needs to be made clear endlessly that these people are totalitarians who want constant unending dishonesty at all times from everyone. Or else.
