A guy with down syndrome works at my supermarket. Melody doesn't have the kind of autism where your mind is completely disrupted. He can help himself and do things. Anyway, i'll stfu now, this thread is for lol'ing not explaining the obvious to people that already know.
Sounds like a go-getter who wasn't coddled by online life. But I think that's the beauty of it. Someone with down syndrome aren't as high functioning as someone like Melody, they actually want to see the world and be friends with their fellow man. Melody is high functioning enough, or just downright lazy, and wants to goon and be drip fed dopamine from anime, video games, and their discord kittens.
Their whole life revolves around being online, so it's not surprising that being stuck in their room in front of a computer screen doesn't seem like a death sentence.
