Honestly, and I know I'm mocking him so it's funny but I'm not saying this as a joke, nobody who looks at him is going to think he's "challenging the gender binary" or "pursuing androgyny" at all. Anyone who sees a 40 year old man with slightly long hair who dresses like a child (or a weirdo) and carries stuffed animals is going to think he's retarded in the clinical sense.
"But my long hair, people will see that and know that's feminine!" Yeah, lots of speds have issues with getting their hair cut.
People will assume his wife is his minder or something, hired help, sister at best. Especially if she's doing as said in those articles they wrote and constantly managing his public anxiety.
The real question is if he finds all this sexually attractive or it's just the mid-life crisis reaction to not having what he wants. And you're welcome for making you think about the first thing.
