I lurked here for years before posting, but found myself no longer wanting to do so pretty shortly after I started. In large part, it was because nearly every thread in the Gaming section was dominated by negativity, one-liners, sniping, and hot takes. Any in depth discussion felt like a waste, especially as it became apparent any attempts at providing insight (often from people in the industry) would just get buried and ignored most of the time. Even as someone who basically only reads, I have to make liberal use of the ignore function on threads and posters because it gets to be too much to wade through. It is an exhausting and depressing environment to post in and it just wasn't worth it for me.

Over the last few years of reading I've also seen many voices I used to pay attention to, especially from gender minorities, either dramatically cut back or completely stop posting as well.
