I'm a little triggered by the CNN chyron: "Democrats sweep major races in NYC, New Jersey, Virginia"

2013: Dems win two, lose New Jersey because Chris Christie is running for re-election.
2017: Dems win all three.
2021: Dems win two, lose Virginia barely.
2025: Dems win all three.

Then they talk about these races as if they're some insight into the mood of the "nation" or some shit, extrapolating some grand story like how the left haven't been pushing social issues and this proves it. Dems always win NYC, and they split the other two after a Democratic President was elected and had won the same state.

Virginia hasn't voted for a Republican President since 2004. New Jersey hasn't since 1988. NYC hasn't voted Republican since 1924, a GOP presidential candidate hasn't got above 33% there since 1984.

And Virginia is the most centrist of centrist Democrat states: Terry McAuliffe (the bag man for the Clintons), Mark Warner, Tim Kaine is the "leftist" fire brand of the bunch and they just elected a Blue Dog gun supporting CIA agent. New Jersey elected a Blue Dog former Navy pilot.

Spanberger was once most famous for this:

Calling the elections "a failure" from a congressional standpoint, she singled out Republican attack ads decrying "socialism" and the movement to "defund the police" as prime reasons the Democratic Party lost seats in swing districts. Spanberger argued that Democrats should watch Republican ads before deciding how to talk about issues and never "use the word 'socialist' or 'socialism' ever again"

Isn't her winning a rebuke to Mamdani? Who won in a D+40 city after winning the D primary? Instead we have "Blue wave", "DSA wave", commands for everyone else to "hop on board" because the media is NYC/DC located/focused.
