Huh. So what's your conclusion then? They should keep voting for people that actively hurt them?

I hear your anger and yeah all politicians treat us like we're tools to advance their power. I'm not going to "fix" my views by embracing people that want me and mine to be lesser up to death just because that was the "will of the people".

The two party system sucks. I don't think people here are 100% saying the dems will fix everything tho. There is a lot of legitimate criticism for dem candidates here and a lot of people saying they want things to be better. I think that's the right side of history when we're seeing secret police disappearing people in the name of the gop.

My conclusion is that the arrogant view of the left that it decides what good policy/culture entails, and from there tries to contrive ways to impose that upon genpop, denigrating the parts of it that show resistance to it, has severely backfired over the decades. You see this attitude rampantly on this forum.

Why would I, or anybody else, accept that some third party gets to decide what my motivations are, what I want out of life, what I'm allowed to say/think, and by extension how I "should" (lol) vote? Yes, leftists in this very thread have leaned into doing all of the above.

Leftists in America today, by and large, have this idea in their head that there could be no possible good reason to have non-leftist views, especially on social issues. How could you want to ban abortion? How could you not want affirmative action/DEI? How could you oppose trans rights? How could you want to mass exile immigrants, or be racially homogenous? And so on.

Leftists behave as though it's a foregone conclusion that their opinions on these topics are closer to moral facts than they are to mere opinions. There's no integrative complexity; it's not a question of if you're right, but how best to convince people that you are, and if that fails, how to coerce them to acquiesce to you.

You literally and openly discuss imposing "consequences" on people for disagreeing with your politics, often going as far as to insist that your political opinions and moral decency are basically the same thing, and once the left forms an internal consensus on much of anything, you act as though the public debate on the topic is essentially over. Comply or else.

If one has the option to not be subject to such a regime, why shouldn't they?

The title is kind of misleading, it should say Democracy is killing us, the world is falling apart because Democracy doesn't work when the hateful embeciles will always pick the wrong candidate and always be in power, why should people who oppose the give a shit when it's quickly losing battle?

How is that a troll? Nepenthe was just going on about how liberals need to stop thinking that everyone right of them is an animal.
