Die Hard:
in retrospect, does anyone else think that the FBI guys kind of belong in a different movie?
I need to apply all the caveats: the movie is deserving of being called one of the best of all time and nothing should be changed, I like the FBI guys and their scenes and how it contributes to the rest of the narrative, and I don't consider this observation to be a flaw in the film
but they feel overtly comedic in a way that the rest of the movie is not, honestly they would not be out of place in Naked Gun
the rest of the movie is also often funny, but not due to goofs like two guys with the same name, it's darkly comedic stuff which is realistic in context, like the dead body landing on Al's car
meanwhile these guys are quipping "no relation," "it's agent Johnson...no, the other one," hooting and hollering about being badasses in their helicopter, they even end with "looks like we're gonna need some new FBI guys"
they almost feel like director commentary/disdain for government ineffectiveness or something? they're so strongly characterized that it feels like driving home a point with a sledgehammer
