I’m in the sketcher parts of Shinjuku after many many months of avoiding. And way back when, the people propositioning you were annoying. But I’ve heard stories of them getting worse, more aggressive, and physically attacking perceived tourists. It unironically feels like Ryu Ga Gotoku where you turn a corner and see a group clock you. You turn back as they approach. Some days you don’t want somebody yelling “titties??” at you.

lol, when I was there in the summer I had the exact same impression of being in yakuza land. I was there early killing time before catching my flight home so didn’t get harassed. The garden there were nice.
