So a bit of a crazy question, but isn't part of the reason why the Second Amendment exist is to protect against a powerful federal government and resistance to oppression, right? So would you then be in the right when you actually use your guns against the goon squad of a seriously overreaching federal government as a form of self defense? Or do you need to officially be part of a militia (can you even be officially part of a militia?) for this right to kick in?

And if not, when are you allowed to take up arms against a federal government if part of the reason the Second Amendment is explicitly about self defense against the federal government?
