Imagine if they put all this effort in fucking up the world into like, going out into space to mine things or something

Space mining is still a long way off being economically and technologically viable. The best bet for the moment is to build a base on the moon and use the minerals acquired to develop things to explore space further. The most difficult part of the equation will be to return any minerals to earth so that's why it's not really gaining any traction.

I know this because I attended a session on space mining at a conference once and my colleague got into a lunchtime conversation with some engineers from Space X, and other agencies/companies that are actually looking into this stuff.

Bet they could actually get a start on doing it if they pulled their fingers out tbh, it's 2025 lads howay

I know, right? 

If they can land a man on the moon in 1969, we can at least exploit some minerals there in 2026
