Scholars distinguish between two primary forms of narcissism: grandiose and vulnerable. Grandiose narcissism is characterized by high self-esteem, assertiveness, and a desire for power. Vulnerable narcissism involves high entitlement but is accompanied by low self-esteem, hypersensitivity to criticism, and defensive behavior.
