She was probably told by Experts if she didn't support him he'd commit suicide. Parents not in the know are put in a terrible position by activists in medicine, education, journalism, etc

sometimes I wonder if being coddled at every opportunity and given everything you demand at every turn, always affirmed, is actually worse

because if you get all that, and you have to admit to yourself that you're getting it, and you STILL feel like shit, something must be incredibly broken somewhere

there has to be a weird kind of anxiety and panic when everyone you know everywhere is being super nice to you and always saying "yes" but you still feel wrong (or you want to feel oppressed)
